Dr. Dickson served in a number of senior leadership positions at the Mayo Clinic prior to his retirement in 2003. Dr. Dickson was elected to the Mayo Foundation Board of Trustees in February 1999. He served on the Executive Committee of Mayo’s Institutional Research Committee and Chair of the Fiscal Committee. He has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Mayo Comprehensive Cancer Center. Earlier in his career, he served as Head of Section in the Division of Gastroenterology and was Director of the Clinical Practice Training Committee. Between 1993 and 2003, he was Director of Development for Medical Education and Research for Mayo Foundation. He was the first Director of the Mayo Clinic Liver Transplantation Program and served on national committees related to liver transplantation.
Dr. Dickson also currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Bay City Capital, a large Venture Capital Group. Through this appointment to Bay City Capital, Dr. Dickson has been involved in the due diligence and the formation of numerous biosciences related companies. Dr. Dickson currently serves on the Board of Directors of NeoRx Corporation, Axcan Pharma, and Pathway Diagnostics Corporation. He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Baxter International.
Dr. Dickson earned his BA degree at Ohio Weslyan University, an MD degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine, and an MS degree at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Dickson is also a Master Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
